Susquehanna Valley C.A.R.T.S. was founded in the spring of 1989, by a group of local gear heads. The group would meet on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon at what used to be the Biff-Burger located on the strip (Rt. 15) in the Shamokin Dam area in Pennsylvania. Many of the participants were just building their street rods and rode to the event using stools, buckets or milk crates as seats. It made no difference on what you drove or how it looked it was just the sharing of a common goal, an afternoon of fun and friendship.
Street Rod clubs were being formed in the area and Emroy Musser from Middleburg wanted something more than just a street rod club. So came the idea bringing Classics, Antiques, Rods, Trucks and Specialties all together. Emroy formed the club now known as the Susquehanna Valley C.A.R.T.S. (Classics, Antiques, Rods,Trucks and Specialties). The club became incorporated in 1992.
Emroy was the first president of the club and held that office for many years. The club has memberships from five counties in central Pennsylvania. The sole purpose of the club was community commitment through friendship and fun. Giving back to our community is a top priority for the club.
In the past the club used to hold a car meet every year in May. In it's younger years the club meet was held at the Watsontown Park on the 3rd Sunday of the month. Trophies were awarded for the Peoples Choice Car and Truck along with the Mayors Choice, Police Chief Choice, Presidents Choice plus a few other small trophies. The club was noted for their Chinese Auctions which were held during the car meet. The proceeds benefited area families with children with terminal illness.
Originally, April through October the C.A.R.T.S. held monthly cruise-ins at Milton McDonalds. Due to increased attendance, we currently hold our monthly Cruise-Ins in Lewisburg. The 3rd Saturday night of the month you can stop by and enjoy thesounds of the 50&60’s and enjoy a leisure stroll among the cars of yesteryear. We get a variety from Antiques to brand new cars. Everyone is welcome. Trivia, door prizes and 50/50 raffle complete the evening of friendship and fun. The month of June we have a live band for our participants to enjoy.
During the Milton Harvest Festival in September, the club sponsored a 43-mile car cruise and 50-60’s block dance. The cruise drew more than 150 cars. The event has grown and has since been moved to a Sunday afternoon in September. Currently the cruise is held prior to the Harvest Festival Parade. Please check our events page for more info on this subject.
The club purchased their own sound system which they use at their cruise-ins and have been requested to play at many of the local events including car shows, relay for life events, Christmas tree lighting ceremonies, local carnivals and so much more.
The club is well known in the local communities as a giving and sharing organization.
It makes no difference what your ride is you are always welcome to our events or become a member. The club meets the 3rd Saturday of the month (April thru October) at the Wal-Mart Plaza in Lewisburg. We currently have 132 members and welcome all new members.
